Viewing mail server and error logs

    The mail server maintains two logs:
    Mail server log: Contains information about normal operations, such as when the mail server started and stopped.
    Error log: Contains information about problems such as failure to deliver mail.

    The logs are text files located in the AppleShare IP Preferences folder, inside the Preferences folder in the System Folder on your mail server's startup disk.

    You can specify the information stored in the logs.

    To view the mail server log or the error log:
    1 From the mail server computer, open Mac OS Server Admin and log on to the server.
    You cannot view mail log files from client computers.
    2 Press the Mail Services button and choose Show Mail Server Log or Show Mail Error Log.

    Tip: You can also view the logs by double-clicking their icons in the Preferences folder.
